1. One Championship
Coming in as our top Muay Thai promotion is One Championship, and it's for a very good reason. One Championship have done a great job of bringing Muay Thai to the masses and have established themselves as one of the worlds largest fight promotions in recent years.
To help appeal to the masses, One Championship have made several changes to the traditional Muay Thai bouts that you are used to seeing. Firstly all One Championship bouts take place in a cage rather than a ring and they also use 4oz gloves which are traditionally used in MMA bouts rather than Muay Thai fights.
One Championship have done a great job of building a truly elite Muay Thai roster, including fighters such as Liam Harrison, Jonathan Haggerty, Rodtang, Sangmanee and many more! They have done a fantastic job of continuing to grow the exposure of the sport and continue to do this with the recent announcement that their events will now be played on Prime Video. This brings the first time that Muay Thai will be brought to a mass audience on a video streaming platform.
The promotion was founded in 2011 by entrepreneur Chatri Sityodtong and former ESPN Star Sports senior executive Victor Cui. They also host MMA, Kickboxing and grappling bouts.
2. Muay Thai Grand Prix
One of the fastest growing Muay Thai promotions at the minute is Muay Thai Grand Prix, and this is why we put them at number two in our list. Muay Thai Grand Prix is a U.K. based promotion which has continued to expand globally in recent years and now hosts Muay Thai events all over the world.
Their events are held in the largest stadiums in the most iconic cities across the globe; The O2 Arena in London to the Curtin Stadium in Australia, to new and upcoming events in Italy, Spain, Switzerland and the Ivory Coast. They also showcase all of their events on Pay Per View which is a fantastic way for people all over the world to see high quality Muay Thai.
Muay Thai Grand Prix have done a great job of bringing some of the best fighters in the world to fight on their events, including the likes of Charlie Peters, Evan Jays, John Wayne, Damien Trainor, Dan McGowan, Iman Barlow, Paul Karpowicz, John Shink, Pakorn and many many more.
3. Supershowdown
Supershowdown, formally under the Yokkao banner, has been one of the U.K's leading Muay Thai promotions for several years. They have continued to bring some of the best Muay Thai fighters on the planet to the U.K.
Supershowdown showcase all of their events on Pay Per View which is a fantastic way for people all over the world to see high quality Muay Thai.
Supershowdown have done a great job of bringing some of the best fighters in the world to fight on their events, including the likes of Saenchai, Pakron, Fabio Pinca, Superlek and many many more!
4. Lion Fight
Lion Fight is the United State's leading Muay Thai promotion, hosting events all over the states, and even in recent years globally. Lion Fight was founded in 2010 by CEO & Owner Scott Kent. Since the promotion’s inception, it has grown to host events across 7 countries including Italy, Ireland, and Argentina and venues in the US.
Lion Fight have hosted some of the worlds leading Muay Thai fighters on their events, including include Cris Cyborg, Tetsuya Yamato, Kevin Ross (kickboxer), John Wayne Parr, Lerdsila Chumpairtour, Jo Nattawut, Kongjak and Rungravee Sasiprapa.
5. Rajadamnern World Series
The Rajadamnern World Series is one of the latest promotions coming out of Thailand as the Rajadamnern Stadium look to shake up the traditional Muay Thai scent in Thailand and bring the sport to the global masses.
The Rajadamnern World Series brings some of the best Muay Thai fighters on the planet over various different weight classes to compete in a points based scoring system for the prize of 1,000,000 (Thai Baht).
The tournament features the likes of Yodkhunpon Sitmonchai, Julio Lobo, Sibmuen SidChefBoontham, Mungkornkaw Sitkaewprapo and many more. Fighters will be awarded points based on the results of their bouts, which more points being awarded for earlier knockouts. This is to try and bring more action to Muay Thai fights in Thailand that the promoters feel will help to expand the current Muay Thai audience.
6. Victory Promotions
Victory Promotions is an up and coming Muay Thai promotion based in England that too has tried to adopt a Muay Thai point league system similar to the Rajadamnern World Series.
The promotion continues to grow and put on excellent Muay Thai shows in the North East of England.
